Apprenticeships - Business Development Manager

KYP is a leading charity and community focused voluntary sector organisation established in 1979. We are dedicated to engaging and working with local people and diverse communities of Rochdale for the social and economic development of the borough.

We seek a talented, passionate Business Development Manager to lead our team of advisors to self-generate new Apprenticeship starts with local employers. You will have a proven success within work based learning of driving and motivating staff to engage with Levy and Non-Levy paying employers, the ability to secure new business by promoting the case for Apprenticeships and training as vital component for business growth and success. You will build lasting relationships with local employers and learners to match their employment needs to meet our Apprenticeship delivery targets.

  • Developing the team to substantially grow the number of individuals undertaking Apprenticeships by engaging local employers and selling the benefits of Apprenticeships to meet all targets
  • Facilitating internal staff training and updating skills within the business development arena to your team
  • Develop and use Social Media and general marketing campaigns and strategies, including the use of training needs analysis to ensure a consistent approach along with good quality IAG is used with both employers and learners, by yourself and your team promoting the business case for training
  • Developing relationships with Employers (targeting key decision makers), Individuals (of all ages) interested in Apprenticeships, Employees (existing staff)
  • Attend events on behalf of KYP and generate interest in KYP’s offer from many different parties
  • Lead on ensuring that Health and Safety records within the workplace are maintained and current
  • Work with the training team to ensure retention and achievement targets are met through continued contact after sign-up with employers and learners
  • Proven sales and business development skills and / or a demonstrable record of meeting & exceeding targets in the work-based learning/apprenticeships/training field of work or similar
  • Experience of working in the training sector with a good knowledge of Apprenticeships / Work-Based Learning is required
  • Experience of targeting and gaining commitment from key individuals, managers or Directors in companies
  • Experience of successful negotiating and selling at all levels
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The capacity to increase Apprenticeship take-up in our current and future business areas such as business admin, customer service, management and the care sector
  • Being responsive and knowledgeable to the changes in Apprenticeship delivery of Frameworks and/or Standards
  • Educated to Level 3 or above
  • IAG qualification essential
  • Proficient in use of ICT and social media


Salary: £35,000 (OTE) basic and bonus split, based on experience.
