Ambition for Ageing Project Co-ordinator

 KYP are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Project Co-ordinator to join our Ambition for Ageing team. In this role you will work closely with delivery partners, community organisations, older people, volunteers and stakeholders to engage and work with older people in 3 wards across Rochdale. Ambition for Ageing is a partnership of organisations across Greater Manchester with the aim of developing creative approaches to reducing social isolation for older people and more ‘Age-Friendly’. The programme is part of the Big Lottery’s national Ageing Better programme and is led by GMCVO in Greater Manchester. In Rochdale, the project is a collaborative venture led by Kashmir Youth Project, (the Local Delivery Lead and central hub for the partnership) together with CVS Rochdale; Bangladesh Association and Community Project; Meadowfields Community Centre and Demesne Community Centre.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Co-ordinator will be responsible for the co-ordination, implementation and monitoring of plans, the management and support of delivery partners, the management and monitoring of Community Investment funds and the day to day delivery of the programme. You will be working closely with delivery partners (CVS Rochdale, BACP, Meadowfields CC, Demesne CC) to ensure successful programme delivery. This will involve volunteers, in both formal roles and in informal roles.

As the Project Co-ordinator, you will have passion for working with older people, boundless energy, enthusiasm and a desire to maintain the highest standards in supporting delivery partners, volunteers, GMCVO and other stakeholders. You will have

  • Recent experience and knowledge of the Community and Voluntary sector
  • Experience of collaborative partnership work
  • Excellent project management skills (including achieving project milestones within deadlines, short and long term planning, monitoring, evaluation and report writing)
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Good level of financial monitoring and budget management experience (to ensure community investment funds are allocated according to guidelines)
  • Good interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to negotiate, build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Good marketing and promotion skills and knowledge.
  • The ability to work in a busy, multi-functional environment, meeting deadlines and working under pressure.


  • A good standard of educational attainment or relevant work experience (Level 4 and above).
  • Good level of numeracy and literacy (Level 3 and above).
  • Good ICT skills (Level 2 and above) and proficiency in the use of web and social media.
  • A youth / community work qualification or project management qualification is desirable.

Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
