This week at KYP, we were delighted and honoured to welcome the new Consul General of Pakistan, Mr. Imtiaz Feroz Gondal, for an introductory visit to learn more about our organisation, its history, and the impact it continues to have within the local community.
The afternoon commenced with a presentation outlining KYP’s rich history, tracing its journey from its establishment over four decades ago to the vibrant and impactful organisation it is today. The presentation highlighted the wide range of programmes, services, and initiatives that KYP has delivered throughout the years, supporting thousands of young people, families, and community members across the borough. It also showcased the organisation’s ongoing commitment to empowering individuals, promoting community cohesion, and creating opportunities that enable people to reach their full potential.
Mr. Gondal was given an insight into the many ways KYP continues to respond to the changing needs of the community, from youth engagement and educational support to health and wellbeing initiatives, leadership development programmes, and civic participation projects. The discussion also explored the challenges facing young people today and the vital role that community organisations such as KYP play in providing support, guidance, and opportunities for personal growth.
A particularly memorable part of the visit was hearing from a number of respected community and civic leaders from across the borough included newly appointed mayor of Rochdale; Faisal Rana and Mayoress Iram Faisal, who shared heartfelt and personal testimonials about their own experiences with KYP.
Many reflected on their journeys as young people, describing how KYP had provided them with a safe and welcoming environment, valuable mentorship, and opportunities that helped shape their futures. Their stories demonstrated how the support they received through KYP enabled them to develop confidence, build skills, and pursue successful careers and leadership roles within their respective fields.
These powerful testimonies served as a reminder of the lasting impact that youth and community organisations can have across generations. Several speakers spoke passionately about the importance of investing in young people and ensuring that organisations like KYP continue to thrive so that future generations can benefit from the same opportunities and support that they once received.
Mr. Gondal expressed his appreciation for the work being carried out by KYP and the dedication shown by its staff, volunteers, trustees, and supporters.
We were honoured to showcase the achievements of KYP and to share the stories of those whose lives have been positively influenced by the organisation. The visit was a valuable occasion to celebrate more than 40 years of service to the community while looking ahead to future opportunities for collaboration, growth, and continued impact.
We would like to thank Mr. Imtiaz Feroz Gondal for taking the time to visit KYP and learn more about our work.
