Community Food Pantry

At KYP, we stand firmly committed to supporting our local community, especially during these challenging times marked by a pressing cost-of-living crisis. Our mission is clear: to offer culturally appropriate food and non-perishable items at a subsidised, affordable price. To achieve this mission, we offer our Community Food Pantry service every Wednesday and Friday from 10am – 3pm.

How it Started:

KYP’s Community Food Pantry was established in 2020 in response to the dual challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising cost-of-living crisis. Located in the heart of Rochdale, one of the most deprived areas in the UK, our pantry plays a vital role in supporting local families and individuals experiencing food poverty, helping to ensure that no one in our community goes without access to essential food supplies.

Since its launch, the pantry has supported more than 200 households and continues to provide assistance to an average of 60 families each month. Through this ongoing support, we are helping to reduce hardship, strengthen community resilience, and provide a lifeline to those facing financial difficulties.

How the Pantry Works:

Each item in the pantry is assigned a points value, which is clearly displayed on the shelves. Clients can choose the items that best meet their household’s needs, selecting enough products to reach a total of 15 points. In return, they pay a nominal fee of £4, enabling them to access a wide range of essential food and household items at a significantly reduced cost.

We extend our profound gratitude to all the donors who generously contributed food, toiletries, gifts, and other supplies. Our dedicated volunteers, have been the driving force behind this initiative. We are equally thankful to our friends, families, and well-wishers who have buoyed our spirits and kept us motivated throughout this journey.

KYP Community Food Pantry Booking Service

At KYP, we are offering our incredible clients the opportunity to access the pantry at a time that suits you!

This Brand new service is designed for those who are unable to attend during our regular pantry hours or would prefer a quieter shopping experience. 

You can book an appointment to visit the pantry outside of the regular pantry days. Slots are available on Tuesday & Thursday from 10:00am – 3:30pm.
